What Guardian is for
A normal flyscreen will not hold a child's weight. Guardian is Prowler Proof's fall prevention screen for openable windows on upper floors. It's designed to meet the National Construction Code's requirements for protecting openable windows, so the window can open fully while the screen acts as the barrier.
Guardian uses a welded aluminium frame with an aluminium mesh infill and a powder-coated finish, so it's strong and still lets air and light through.
Where Guardian is used
- Upstairs bedrooms and playrooms in two-storey homes.
- Windows where restrictors have been fitted, so the window can open properly again.
- New builds and rentals, where builders, owners and property managers need upper-floor windows protected.
Fall prevention is not the same as security
Guardian is built to stop a fall. If an upstairs window is also a security concern, for example one you can reach from a roof or balcony, ask about a security screen for that opening instead. Chris will tell you which product suits each window.
Whether a particular window needs fall protection depends on its height above the ground and the sill height inside. We'll look at that at the measure, and builders should confirm compliance requirements for their project.

Can I open my window fully with Guardian fitted?
Yes, that's the point of it. The screen is the barrier, so the window can open fully for airflow.
Is Guardian a security screen?
Guardian is designed for fall prevention, not as a security screen. For upstairs windows that are also an entry risk, we'll recommend a security screen instead.
