Protec security screens and doors
A solid sheet of perforated aluminium in a welded frame. You see out, the breeze comes through, and during the day people outside mostly see a clean panel instead of into your house.
What Protec is
Protec is Prowler Proof's perforated aluminium security screen. Instead of a woven mesh, the infill is a single aluminium sheet punched with a pattern of small holes, then powder-coated to match the frame. That sheet is welded into a heavy-duty aluminium frame. No screws or rivets hold the corners together.
It's the screen we recommend most for street-facing windows and front doors on modern homes, because it does three jobs at once: security, airflow and daytime privacy.
Where Protec works best
- Front doors and street-facing windows, where you'd rather people didn't see straight in.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms you want to leave open on a warm night.
- Modern facades, where a flat, clean panel suits the look of the house.
Worth knowing before you choose
Daytime privacy works because it's brighter outside than in. At night, with the lights on inside, that flips and people can see in more easily, so you'll still want blinds or curtains in bedrooms. The view out is slightly more filtered than through stainless steel mesh. If the view is the whole point of a window, look at ForceField for that one.
Doors and windows
Protec is made as hinged security doors, sliding security doors and window screens, all custom-made to each opening and powder-coated in a colour that matches your frames.
Security doors come with Lockwood locks: the 8654 on hinged doors and the 8653 on sliding doors, both with Lockwood's two-stage DualSelect key. 3-point locking is standard on every door, and doors ordered together can be keyed alike.
Care
Rinse with fresh water and wipe with a soft brush or cloth every few months, more often if you're close to the coast. Avoid harsh cleaners and pressure washers on the powder coat.
Covered by Prowler Proof's 10-year full replacement warranty against defects in workmanship or materials.

See the detailsQuestions we get asked
Is Protec as strong as stainless steel?
Both are genuine security screens, welded and audited against Australian Standards. The difference is mostly in how they look and what you see through them, not whether they'll keep someone out. Chris will talk you through which suits each opening.
Does Protec block the breeze?
No. The perforations let air through freely, which is why Protec is popular on bedroom windows.
Does Protec keep insects out?
Yes. Protec works as a security screen and a flyscreen in one, so you don't need a separate flyscreen behind it.
Can I get Protec in my colour?
Protec is powder-coated, and there's a wide range of colours. We match it to your window and door frames at the measure.
Can I mix Protec with other screens on the same house?
Yes, and it's common. Protec on the street side for privacy, ForceField at the back for the view. We'll match frame colours so it all looks consistent.
